Are you looking for an opportunity where you’ll stay close to the business, coaching managers, strengthening local HR presence and delivery, and ensuring alignment with global direction?
About the role
As HR Manager, you’ll be a trusted, senior day-to-day partner to managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle (salary & compensation, performance, employee matters, work environment/health & safety, learning & development, labor law). You’ll help create better local structure and “pulse”, so things don’t fall behind.
You’ll take clear local ownership of the People agenda in Uppsala, making sure forums, communication and activities that build culture and knowledge sharing happen. You will implement and adapt global strategy locally, while also being hands-on in delivery and support.
You report to the CHRO, who is also based in Uppsala, and you’ll be part of a global People & Culture team across EMEA, the US and APAC. Globally, the focus is on sharing best practices and keeping direction and quality aligned. We encourage knowledge sharing, engagement, and initiatives that build team spirit.
The roles includes, but is not limited to:
Implement global HR direction locally at Uppsala HQ, ensuring strong alignment with our global strategy and ways of working.
Own the local People agenda in Uppsala by establishing structure, continuity and momentum, for example recurring manager forums, regular check-ins, and pragmatic local initiatives.
Act as an HR partner for managers and employees in day-to-day matters across the employee lifecycle.
Drive performance and development locally in line with global processes (goal setting, follow-ups, reviews and development actions), ensuring high quality and timely execution.
Own compensation, benefits and the local payroll interface, in close collaboration with Soderberg & Partners as the specialist partner.
Ensure strong local compliance and application of Swedish labor law and HR policies in day-to-day work, supporting managers with guidance, documentation and risk-aware decision-making when needed.
Lead local work environment and rehabilitation processes, coordinating structured plans and follow-ups in collaboration with managers and occupational health services.
Support workforce planning across recruitment, development and retention based on business priorities and local needs.
Lead local HR operations and reporting: maintain accurate people data, ensure smooth HR administration, and deliver insights/metrics that support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Who we’re looking for
You’re not afraid to take ownership when something needs fixing. When things get sensitive or complex, you stay calm and constructive, and you keep things moving. You’re comfortable when priorities shift (at IAR they will), and you’re curious about new approaches, tools, and best practices that make HR work better.
You do what you say you’ll do, and you handle trust and confidentiality with good judgment. You like being close to the business: asking good questions, listening properly, and helping managers and teams move forward.
To succeed in this role, you have:
5–10 years of experience in a broad HR role balancing both strategic and hands-on responsibilities, ideally in a small to mid-sized business context.
Experience in employee relations and Swedish labor law in practice, and you are confident coaching managers through performance topics, difficult conversations, and complex people situations.
Experience driving performance and development processes end-to-end (goal setting, follow-ups, reviews, development actions).
A solid understanding of compensation, benefits and payroll processes, and you are comfortable explaining implications in everyday cases (e.g., part-time changes, deductions, parental leave, vacation, pensions/insurance) and know when to escalate.
Experience supporting workforce planning across recruitment, development, and retention.
Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English and Swedish.
